Oliver Roy Overton, 83, of Burleson, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2016.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney, Texas, under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors. He will lie in state at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016.

Oliver was born on Aug. 19, 1932, in Whitney, to Frances (Wallace) and Johnnie Overton. He graduated from Whitney High School in 1950. Oliver began his career with Chance Vought in Grand Prairie. Later, he worked for Bell Helicopter for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 1994.
On Feb. 17, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, La Jean Moore and she preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2011.
Oliver enjoyed working in his garden and woodworking in his “Dog House” as well as fishing and spending time with his family.
He had lived in Burleson for the last 39 years, was a member of Arlington Masonic Lodge and was a Methodist.
Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy; his son, Larry and wife, Kathi; grandsons, Brent and sweetheart, Katherine, and Blake and wife, Nancy; great-granddaughter, Abigail; and dear friends.
The family would like to especially thank the care givers at Compassionate Senior Service for providing outstanding, loving care for Roy during his final years.
