James Raymon Heffner passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at the age of 80.
Graveside services were 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, in Burleson Memorial Park.
James "Jim" was the son of Bill and Valda Heffner, born March 1, 1936, in Hobart, Oklahoma. Jim lost his dad at the age of 5, after which he and his mom lived on an Indian reservation for several years.
Jim graduated from Hobart High School, then attended Oklahoma A&M. He joined the army and was honorably discharged in October of 1964. He moved to Burleson and started a home building business, where he found the love of his life, Billie Orr. They were married for 28 wonderful years, working together to build the very successful real estate company, Red Carpet Heffner and Associates.
They loved to travel and bought a couple of farms that they transformed into park-like settings. He was the ultimate animal lover, especially black lab dogs that were treated like royalty. One of his greatest loves was his eight grandchildren, assuring them they would have the opportunity to go to college and graduate with no college debt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Heffner; mother, Valda Pendergraft; wife, Billie Heffner; and daughter, Jill Heffner.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheri Stribling, of Austin; son, Rob Orr and wife, Pam, of Burleson; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one special black dog.
Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua handled the arrangements. 817-426-3200
