Donna Jo Kinsey, 67, of Burleson, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10, 2017, in the presence of her loving family.

Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Caddo Cemetery, Joshua. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the funeral home.

Donna was born January 1st, 1950, in Haskell Texas. She grew up in Lubbock Texas, where she attended high school, and was later married to Danny Kinsey. They had two beautiful children named John and Jamie. She worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, where she retired.

She was always an avid reader, and loved spending time with friends and family.

Her family would like to thank the many caregivers at Vitas Hospice, who helped her

throughout her battle with cancer.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Danny L. Kinsey;

her mother, Janie Wilkenson, as well as her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fate and Idell Kinsey.

Survivors include her son, John Kinsey and wife, Wendy; daughter, Jamie Kinsey Kowalski, and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Jonathan, Kenzie, Jacob and Grayson; one great-grandchild, Archer; sisters, Rhonda and Billie; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Merwin Ernest Beckwith, 92, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Tye Cemetery, in Burleson. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.

Merwin was born December 10, 1924 in Cuyler, New York, to Ernest and Gertrude (Owens) Beckwith. He and Jean were married on August 17, 1945, in Norwich, New York. They were married for 64 years before her passing. He retired from General Dynamics in Ft. Worth. His hobbies included woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren, and spreading the word about Jesus.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dixie Jean (Hardgrove) Beckwith; and daughter, Toni Beckwith Landers.

David Chester McDonough, 74, passed from this earth and joined Jesus Christ on Friday, March 31, 2017, at his home in Burleson, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date

David was born November 18, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, to the late Vern and Maxine McDonough. He married Sharlene Kurtz in November of 1967 in Iowa City, Iowa, and she preceded him in death. David married Ann Lyons in April of 1992 in Burleson, Texas, and she preceded him in death. David was also preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle, at birth.

He graduated from Mason City High School, Mason City, Iowa, in the class of 1960. After graduating, he attended community college in Mason City, Iowa, and American Institute of Business, Des Moines, Iowa, with a bachelor degree in Business Administration.

David was involved in real estate sales for several years with his father, Vern, in Iowa. David managed tire stores for over 30 years.

He enjoyed boating, skiing, fishing, golfing, as well as dancing and bowling in his earlier years. David was active in the Burleson Rotary Club.

Survivors include his son, Michael McDonough, of Burleson; and his sister, Susan Claycomb, of Mason City, Iowa.

Aransas Pass- Jerrid Edgar Haskin I, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017. He was 64.

All services will be private.

Jerrid was born in Springfield, Missouri, on June 18, 1952, to James and Arlene (Ware) Haskin. He was a resident of Aransas Pass, Texas, but enjoyed traveling in his RV. Jerrid was a former Tug Boat Captain for most of his life.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Haskin.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Haskin, of Aransas Pass, Texas; son, Jerrid Edgar Haskin, II and wife, Kaya, of Portland, Texas; daughters, Misty Lehew and husband, Brian, of Ft. William “Bill” Howard Menkins, 78, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at his home in Joshua, Texas, after a long illness.

He was born on September 4, 1938, to Harrison and Marcia (Middleton) Menkins, in Syracuse, New York. Bill graduated from Onondaga High School in 1956 and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly afterward.  In the Army, he rose to the rank of First Sergeant, served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and retired after 27 years.  In Vietnam, Bill was a member of the Special Forces (Green Beret), was wounded in combat, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Bill also received the Bronze Star in addition to numerous other medals and awards throughout his career.‬

Bill loved cars, and enjoyed reading, and joking with family and friends.  He will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Bill’s parents, Harrison and Marcia; and brother, Richard Menkins, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Yvonne; his daughters, Deborah Menkins (Mark Orabuena), of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lori (Christopher) Huber, of Jamesport, New York, and Patty (Carlos) Casillas, of Joshua, Texas; and his grandchildren, Dylan, Thomas, Matthew, Sydney and Cainan. He is also survived by his brother, Carl “Skip” Menkins; and his sisters, Lynda Boylan, and Kathleen Thornton.

ALBERT LEE BRANSOM

Burleson -- Albert Lee Bransom passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Albert was born Nov. 25, 1959, to JB and Dorothy Bransom, who proceeded him in death. He attended school and resided in Burleson his entire life. Albert owned Bransom Excavation, was employed by Texas Steel, and, in later years, was a truck driver in the oil and gas industry. He loved riding motorcycles, and hunting, but his favorite hobby was fishing at Lake Fork.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Danny Bransom and Charlie Bransom.

Survivors include his son, Brian Joseph Bransom; brothers, Jimmy Bransom and Eddy Bransom; and Mark Grabel, who he considered a brother; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

No services are scheduled at this time, but will be announced at a later date.

Orville E. Swindell, 91, of Burleson, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Orville was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Slaton, Texas, to Joseph and Mary Ella (Tapp) Swindell. He is a WWII U.S.M.C. veteran, having served in the South Pacific and China. Orville loved training horses and carpentry work.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Opal Atherton.

R.D. Harless, 78, of Chico, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 6, 1939, to M.E. and Vesta (Moore) Harless. David was a Mason. He loved wood working, but his recent love was working in the community of Slidell. David was retired from General Motors. He was an active member of New Hope Fellowship Church, in Chico. David most of all loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who called him "Papa”.

David is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Donald Harless; sister, JoAnn Price; and grandson, Christopher Wheelis.

Survivors include his wife, Jo, with whom he shared his life for 43 wonderful years; his children, sons, T.J. Mary Margaret Moore McClure passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, April 30, 2017, at 87 years of age.

Mary was born March 12, 1930, in Hillsboro, Texas, to C.E. “Teenie” and Mary Ameda (Darnell) Moore. She was everyone’s best friend and a very gifted grandmother to her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. We were blessed with the best!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sugar Bill McClure; and one son, Dennis McClure; her mother and father; one sister; three brothers; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Dortha M. Murphy, 93, of Burleson, passed away Wednesday, May 3 2017, in Burleson.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2017, at Burleson Church of Christ, with Karl Jones officiating.
Dortha was born in Terral, Oklahoma, to Charles and Clemmie Howard on Aug. 27, 1923. She went to school at Waurika, Oklahoma. She married Lloyd Morgan on October 11, 1941 in Waurika, Oklahoma. Lloyd preceded her in death 1997.
In 1998, Dortha married LD White, and he preceded her in in death in 1999. Dortha married Earl Murphy in 2000 and Earl preceded her in death 2005.
She worked as a nurse for several doctors for number of years. Dortha was an active member of the Burleson Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda Wright and husband, Charley; daughter, Janice Bradford and husband, Carl; son, Don Morgan and wife, Delores; 10 grandchildren; 24 grea-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Ruby Lyle and husband, Bob; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doris was born February 21, 1926, in Johnson County, to James and Alma Grisso Stephens.

Caroline Olivia Marshall was welcomed into this world on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 6:05 a.m.  She was 4 pounds and 15 ounces. Caroline was 18½ inches long and absolutely beautiful.  She went home to her Heavenly Father at 8:30 a.m.

A private graveside service was held on Monday, May 8, 2017, at Caddo Grove Cemetery.

Her family is so grateful for the time they were able to love on Caroline.  She was baptized by their pastor surrounded by close loved ones.  They are sad that she couldn’t stay longer but rejoice that she is now perfect and whole in Heaven.

Randy was born Sept. 17, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, to Edens and Patsy Hyndman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

After a prolonged battle with lung cancer, Irene Belle Huff, 66, of Joshua, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, in Joshua.

She wished to be cremated. Her memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, in Burleson, Texas.

Irene was born in San Antonio, Texas, on Sept. 24, 1950, to Ruth and Willis Chandler. She grew up in a large family, with three sisters and four brothers.

Irene’s days were filled being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. When Irene was diagnosed with lung cancer, she remained a brave iron-willed woman throughout her final days.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, John Huff; son, John Huff; daughters, Stephanie Huff Perez and Deborah Warren; sister, Patricia Stockman; brothers, Hiram and Edward Chandler; god daughter, Arleth Fraga; foster daughter, Katherine Salih; granddaughters, Julia, Rachel and Emily; grandsons, Joshua, Richard, Anthony, John, Alexander, Ruben and Ethan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Danny Earl Bearden died in his home on Monday, May 29, 2017, in Burleson, Texas. He was 64.

His family will be having a private ceremony.

Danny was born March 27, 1953, in Gladewater, Texas, to his parents, Gleason “Hez” Bearden and Yvonne Lee. He played football for Alice, Texas, where he received a football scholarship to UT to play for the Texas Longhorns. Danny married Marsha Weidman on Sept. 1, 1978. The Bearden’s then moved to Burleson, Texas, where Danny worked in the belting industry for over 31 years. He started working for Forbo Siegling LLC on Dec. 28, 1998.

Spending time with his family, friends and, of course, his dog, Remy, were Danny’s major loves. He enjoyed playing a good game of golf and hunting. Danny also loved starting new projects at home, even though he hadn’t finished the one before.

Danny is preceded in death by his son, Derek Bearden; and his brother, Van Bearden.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marsha Bearden; son, Ryan Bearden, of Burleson; his father, Gleason “Hez” Bearden; stepmother, Bonnie Bearden; mother; Yvonne Lee; his sister, Anita Fulton, of Dickinson, Texas; brothers, Troy and Billy Bearden, of Gladewater, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirlee Roberts Hughes, 79, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, in Weatherford, Texas.

Shirlee was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Squaw Creek, Texas, to Thomas and Fern Williams. She was a talented floral designer and was very artistic. Shirlee enjoyed sketching and painting. She excelled as a seamstress who made her own clothes as well as wedding dresses for members of the family. Shirlee was a wonderful grandmother and mother. She was the definition of a mother’s love and care.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Louise Copeland.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Hughes; sons: Ronnie Roberts and wife, Carla, and Dirk Roberts and wife, Sheila; stepsons, Larry Hughes and wife, Lori, Leland Hughes and wife, Tracy, Dale Hughes and wife, Diane, and Dean Hughes and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Rocky Hobbs, Michael Hawk and wife, Kasie, Dusty Roberts and fiancée, Lacy Robertson, and Jeremy Roberts; great-grandchildren. Dwight Stanley Lilly, age 72, of Burleson, Texas, died Monday evening, June 12, 2017, at Texas Health Huguley Hospital, with his wife, Bobbie, and their two adult daughters, Loren and Deanna, by his side.

He wished to be cremated. There will be no formal memorial service for Dwight Lilly at this time.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation either to:  Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.) or a charity of your choice.

Dwight was born in Abilene, Texas, in 1944.  He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1963, where he served as an officer in both ROTC and Distributive Education Clubs of America.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas Wesleyan College in 1971.

In his spare time, Dwight enjoyed studying World War II military history and watching science fiction television series and movies such as Star Trek and Twilight Zone.  He was a longstanding member of the Optimist Club, of Burleson, and he volunteered his time for several years as Scout Leader for a group of special needs teens.  He had a long career of successful retail store management in Burleson with both the Mitchells and Myers chains, as well as owning and operating Wild Rose Western Wear, in Cleburne.

He retired to care for his elderly mother in his and his wife’s home in Burleson; he was a good son.  He had fun finding and buying collectible toys and selling them on eBay.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, George L. Lilly and Mary C. Lilly, from Fort Worth (originally from Mt. Pleasant); his sister, Norma Brannen; and her husband, Jimmy.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bobbie Hart Lilly; along with their two daughters; Loren Allen, of Plano, Texas, and Deanna Byrd and her husband, Dennis, of Burleson, Texas; five grandchildren, Julia Allen, Nathan Allen, Gage Byrd, Brooke Byrd and Morgan Byrd; his maternal aunt, Sandra Smith; her husband, Jerry; and their family of five beautiful daughters, from Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Dwight was admired by his friends and family for his devotion to his wife and daughters and his loving and generous spirit.  He will be missed.
